A hand-drawn diagram illustrating the stages of meiosis I and meiosis II with labeled chromosomes and explanations.

Use a blank sheet of paper to create a hand-drawn diagram of the process of meiosis. Include both Meiosis I and Meiosis II, labeling all key stages: Prophase I Metaphase I Anaphase I Telophase I & Cytokinesis Prophase II Metaphase II Anaphase II Telophase II & Cytokinesis Make sure to clearly show: Homologous chromosome pairing and crossing over during Prophase I. Independent assortment during Metaphase I. Separation of homologous chromosomes in Meiosis I. Separation of sister chromatids in Meiosis II. Use colors or symbols to distinguish between maternal and paternal chromosomes and to indicate crossing over. Step 2: Writing the Explanations For each stage, provide a brief hand written explanation (2-3 sentences) describing: What is happening to the chromosomes. How this stage contributes to the overall process and/or genetic diversity. Write these explanations directly on the diagram near the corresponding stage or on a separate page if more space is needed. See more
