Design Constraints • The applied effort force may only be provided by a single human input. • The final design must include a minimum of four mechanisms including any of the simple machines: a gear system; a belt and pulley system; and/or a sprocket and chain system. (must include at least one gear train / chain and sprocket system) • The compound machine must have a mechanical advantage greater than 1. • The machine will lift a weight of 1kg to a height of 20cm. • The base of the machine can not be greater than 1 base plate. • The initial height of the weight can not be lower than the base of the machine. • Any two consecutive same simple machines will count as one mechanism for example: Wheel and axle / gear train / wheel and axle / pulley - will count as 4 mechanisms but Wheel and Axle / Wheel and Axle / Gear / Pulley - will count as 3 and will be insufficient. Equipment • VEX® PoE kit, including gears (sprockets), chains, belts, axles, and support pieces • Rope for pulley systems (masonry line works well) See more
