Recent research has revealed a worrying trend that 83% of teenagers aged 15–17 are not meeting the physical activity requirements in the Australian Physical Activity guidelines. Even more concerning is that over 80% of teens aren't doing enough muscle strengthening exercises. This issue has worsened over time for example back in 2022, only 46% of teenagers failed to meet the guidelines but that number jumped to 65% in 2017–18 and then followed a slowly increasing rate. On average, young people in Parramatta spend about 9 hours per day using devices such as phones, tablets, and computers. This increase in technology is believed to be one of the key factors to lower physical activity levels. Excessive screen time has been liked with depression, anxiety, poor sleep and even eye strain. Many youths report that social media is the main reason for their device use. At school, 60% of students participate in organised sports or physical activity programs but that number drops to just 30% outside of school. Barriers to participation outside school include issues with family, transport, or access. Our app aims to assist the youths' health by encouraging them to commit to sustained and routinely physical activity despite their level of skill. It will work by using a AI model to render a workout plan which is specifically designed and rendered for the user based on skill, weight, age and a few other factors. The key feature of our application is its ease of use and its availability. We See more
