For this Major Project you will create a light logic drawing of at least three eggs and one other object, using only graphite on 18” x 24” paper. This project will require you to apply your understanding of light logic to a still life, while utilizing the skills that best support a demonstration of light logic: technique, value scales, and gradient control. You may need to reference the following materials: Week 5 - Value and Light Logic Value Drawing Guide Value Guide - Slides Light Logic: Terminology and Definitions Light Logic: Diagram Materials graphite pencils (not charcoal) vinyl eraser kneaded eraser 18" x 24" paper 3 eggs and at least one other object Instructions Arrange a still life using three eggs and at least one other object of your choice. Use the skills and procedures discussed in the lectures on value and light logic regarding both value and light logic Use the scumbling technique and avoid hatching or smearing. Your value scale is important; very dark and very bright and all the grays in between. Control of your gradients is also important, including when to transition slowly and when to transition abruptly. Composition is also important. While your light source should not be in the drawing, consider how you arrange your light source will affect the composition; control your cast shadows' positions and minimize the effects of secondary light sources. You may find it helpful to do a few small gestural sketches in your sketchbook to work out the See more
