Overview This project focused on strengthening community capacity to deliver palliative and end-of-life care within KCA communities. It aligned with the broader goal of ensuring individuals and families can access high-quality, culturally appropriate care closer to home. Workplan Narrative Between April 1 and June 30, 2024, the project advanced a comprehensive training and engagement series designed to support Indigenous health and social-care providers. Activities began with pre-workshop planning and engagement with the KCA Elders Council, ensuring that cultural teachings and community priorities shaped the learning experience. The CERAH education team from Lakehead University collaborated with KCA program leads to co-develop content and logistics for the sessions. Recruitment efforts then brought together frontline staff and community representatives from across the KCA network. The training culminated in the delivery of the “Palliative Care for Front-line Workers” workshop, featuring the LEAP Core for Indigenous Communities course delivered over two days. Approximately 25 KCA staff and community members completed the training. Every activity in this sequence was marked “04 – Complete,” reflecting the project’s successful implementation and its contribution to KCA’s long-term vision of delivering care in community, by community.
