The Chakmas are the largest ethnic group among the indigenous peoples of the CHT. They speak Chakma, which is an Indo-Aryan language, though it has influences from Pali and regional Tibeto-Burman languages. They also have their own script derived from Brahmi. Religiously, most Chakmas follow Theravāda Buddhism. See more
