If you do not understand a direction or part of a procedure, ask the instructor before proceeding. 2 No Food or Drink: Do not eat food, drink beverages, or chew gum in the laboratory. Laboratory glassware should never be used as containers for food or beverages. 3 Authorized Experiments Only: Perform only those experiments authorized by the instructor. Never do anything in the laboratory that is not called for in the laboratory procedures or by your instructor. Unauthorized experiments are prohibited. 4 Safety Equipment: Know the locations and operating procedures for all safety equipment, including the first aid kit, eye-wash station, safety shower, fire extinguisher, and fire blanket. Be aware of the fire alarm and exits in the laboratory. 5 Proper Disposal: Dispose of all chemical waste properly. Never mix chemicals in sink drains. Sinks are to be used only for water and those solutions designated by the instructor. Solid chemicals, metals, and other insoluble materials must be disposed of in the proper waste containers.
