"Design a theatrical stage set for a thrust theatre, viewed from the audience’s perspective. The scene is Lady Macbeth’s bedroom. The stage is mostly dark, with a strong, narrow beam of sharp white light cutting from the front of the stage to the back, creating a clear division between light and shadow. In the exact centre of this light path, place a lonesome single bedframe—simple and minimal—with no headboard or footboard, symbolising vulnerability and lack of stability. Directly behind the bed, at the very back of the stage, position a weathered timber closet, also in the light, just outside of Lady Macbeth’s direct view. Inside the closet are symbolic items (a letter and knives), hidden from the audience’s initial sight. The bed aligns with the entry point at the front of the stage, known as the 'coffin position' in feng shui. The long, lit path from the door to the bed implies a restless energy flow. Surrounding this central line, let the rest of the stage fade into deep shadow, creating an ominous, void-like space that dwarfs the objects and evokes isolation and tension. The entire design should evoke psychological instability, unprotected vulnerability, and looming dread." See more
