Story Script: “The Adventure of the Hurt Arm” Page 1 Once upon a time, a boy named Max hurt his arm while playing outside. He felt pain on the anterior (front) side near his elbow, and it started to swell. Page 2 Max held his arm close to his torso (the main part of the body without the head or limbs). He noticed the pain traveled distally (downward, away from the shoulder) toward his wrist. Page 3 His mom asked him to lift his arm. When he tried flexion (bending), it hurt badly. But extension (straightening) made it feel even worse! Page 4 Max rotated his arm. When he turned his palm upward, that was called supination. When he turned it downward, it was called pronation. Each movement made him wince in pain. Page 5 The doctor arrived and asked Max to raise his arm sideways. “That’s abduction,” the doctor explained. Bringing it back toward the body was adduction. She explained that his arm bones are protected by the thoracic cavity above (chest with heart and lungs) and See more
