The sea was wild and unforgiving. Waves rose like great hills, crashing down with a deafening roar and sending sprays of salty water into the air. The ship rocked violently from side to side, creaking and groaning with every surge. The sky above was a heavy blanket of grey, and the wind screamed through the sails like a banshee. The water churned beneath the ship, swirling in deep, dizzying patterns that made it impossible to stand straight. Each rise and fall of the ship twisted Ralph’s stomach tighter, until every breath felt like a battle. The endless motion, the noise, the cold — it all became too much. The sea didn’t care.
