The reason was the arrival of a huge container ship from India and the squeaking of the cranes at the port as they unloaded the numerous colorful and sometimes heavily rusted containers from the ship. Although Schorchi was still very tired, he didn't want to miss the unloading. He jumped off the boat and hurried over to the container ship. Once there, he climbed onto the top container of a stack, which in a few seconds would be lifted ashore by the crane as if it weighed nothing, only to be loaded onto another container ship or transported further by truck. Today was a very stormy day, which meant it would rock a lot, and that was especially fun for him. “Better than any ride at the Hamburg Dom,” he rejoiced. Especially when you lay flat as a flounder on the container and let the wind blow right through you. It was almost like flying, only better. Schorchi was well known among the dockworkers, so they let him be. His nickname was Blue Moon. Freddy, one of the sailors down at the harbor, who was a big cat lover, had a portrait of Schorchi tattooed on his upper arm. See more
