abstract painting piece with these materials and reasons behind them: Yarn/fibers- Ann gives me a lot of yarn, so this is sorta a nod to that as well as to the sweaters she always wears, and her comforting self. Thread- Ann sews her own clothes, so that’s associated, but I also group sewing into that sort of homemade- kitsch-ness she portrays. Beads- She always is wearing earrings and they sort of are her trademark Wood scraps- They remind me of working on her yard and carrying her many miscellaneous woods scraps to the road- it’s just endearing Paper cutouts- Just to articulate her sort of shabby-chic eclecticness and the state of her house. (Papers, cutouts, crafts, etc are EVERYWHERE.) Acrylic paint Beetle Shells- Sort of relating to the jewelry, but also her unconventional personality, which I find to be the source of her inner beauty Sheet music- Music is her life and soul. It’s what she bases everything around and have given her life for. For her students, her music, her passion. I used to take piano lessons with her for years, so i'm incorporating the pages and snippets of her notes that she would write for me in our lesson book. See more
