ayered Cardstock and Wood Relief Model A top-down relief model built on a thick plywood base, featuring layered cardstock cutouts stacked to represent the site’s varied terrain and pond shape. The pond edges are differentiated by material and form: smooth, gently curved layers of translucent vellum for the natural pond edge, contrasted by jagged, angular strips of matte black cardstock symbolizing the harsh man-made edge. Trees are abstracted using vertical wooden dowels of varying heights and diameters — pre-existing trees are tall and slender pale birch dowels, while architect-planted trees are shorter and darker stained. Clusters of dowels follow observed planting patterns, with occasional diagonal paper ribbons weaving through the trees to suggest wind corridors or circulation paths from the Contemplative Commons. The entire composition sits on a sleek white MDF board, with minimalist engraved labels inset on the base edges. Photographed under diffuse daylight from above to highlight layering and shadows.
