AMI handout: VIWAPA Meter Deployment Project Starting this summer and extending into 2027, VIWAPA will be deploying new electric meters across our entire territory. The reason for this replacement is to increase the overall quality of service to our customers. These new meters will: • Greatly reduce billing issues and errors. • Allow VIWAPA to more pro-actively identify service problems regarding power quality. • Provide a foundation for enhanced services and programs. The specific deployment schedule is being established. Tentatively, St. John will be deployed this summer with the remaining territory to be deployed later in 2026 and well into 2027. As the schedule is developed customers will be given more information of when the meter is expected to be deployed. Most customers will not need to do anything to prepare for the new meter. A brief service interruption will occur when the meter is replaced. If you have any of the following situations, more actions may be required: • If your meter is behind a locked gate or other impediment, the installers will likely call you to setup an appointment for the meter exchange. • If access to your meter is blocked due to debris of excess foliage you are requested to take action to provide access. • If your meter service panel is in a state of disrepair you are requested to make necessary repairs to ensure over safety of the situation.
