Deep into a calm forest walk, you stumble upon a small lake. It’s covered in dark green algae, and the surface is littered with bald cypress roots. You think it must be abando-ned, or maybe the ducks don’t care about their home. You wander closer to the water’s edge when you finally spot two ducks. Dark shadows and autumn trees covered the lake and created a tight web of branches and golden leaves over the top, but the bright sun shone through a small opening in the canopy and illuminated the pristine white feathers of the swans and lit up the lake beneath them like a sapphire.
