The first product I came up with was creating a compact smart washer/dryer called KLEENBOX that would be created and designed by IKEA itself. This design is specifically made for small, spaced apartments, student residences, and condominiums where normal laundry machines are not allowed or too big for the size of the residence. This would be a perfect fit for IKEA, since they do not sell any branded laundry machines that are specifically designed and created by Ikea. The KLEENBOX would be a lightweight, washer and drying combination machine that uses a water efficient cleaning system, low every drying cycle and a greywater recycling attachment to align with IKEA’s consistent efforts with sustainability of materials and products. The greywater recycling attachment would collect lightly used water from bathroom sinks, showers and laundry and filter it to an extreme extent to remove any type of dirt, hair, and soaps. It would then proceed to treat it lightly by disinfecting it and redirecting it to reuse other uses of water use. It would not redirect that water to body use or cleaning purposes but instead use that recycled water for things like toilet flushing, washing outdoor areas, gardening and landscaping water systems. Not only would this save water by reducing utility bills, but it would also support sustainable designs in home and lowers strain on city water systems.
