1. You must use the Nicholas Poussin box system to compose your image. 2. Your composition must have at least two figures in it. 3. In addition to the figures you'll need somewhere between 5-10 additional elements in your composition. These elements could include furniture, landscape elements, rocks, buildings, chandeliers, bushes, trees, animals, cars, tanks, etc. (i.e. anything you need to make a convincing narrative figurative image.) You can use nearly anything for this drawing: found objects, stuff you dig up from DI or a thrift store, models and props from Michaels, stuff you make, or craft, or sculpt yourself, etc. 4. Whatever elements you combine should feel pretty natural together in your composition. We don't want you to just throw together a bunch of random junk and pretend that it is cohesive. Be purposeful in what you include. Make everything harmonize well. 5. Try to approach this from a design-thinking perspective. Do some experimenting. Try different arrangements and different elements. Tinker with lighting, and point of view. Remember! We still want these to have a certain level of drama and mystery. We want you to use strong light and shadow shapes to anchor your composition. We want a sense of hierarchy in the design as well. See more
