For this project, I chose London, United Kingdom, as the inspiration for my fictional city, New Eboracum. London’s long history, strong economy, busy transportation system, and unique layout make it a great example for building a new, modern city. London mixes old traditions with new ideas, and I want my city to do the same. I picked London because it has been an important world city for hundreds of years. It is the home of the British government, big banks, famous colleges, and people from many different cultures. London has changed a lot over time. From a Roman town to a medieval capital to the large city it is today. I want New Eboracum to have that same mix of history and progress, with a focus on culture, fairness, and the future. London follows the Multiple Nuclei Model, which means it doesn’t just have one downtown area. Instead, it has many important areas for different things like Canary Wharf for business, Westminster for government, and the West End for shopping and entertainment. These areas will be linked by good public transport and eco-friendly spaces. London is also a global city, which means it plays a big role in world finance, politics, media, and culture.
