Ceramic 3D Printer Process Report Team Members: Bivushi Timilsina, Maggie Minton, Karigya Joshi Instructor: Dr Md Golam Rosul Client: Dr. Shawn O’Connor Date: May 12, 2025 Summary The 3D ceramic printer team is working on improving the Lulzbot 3D printer to support clay in order to print ceramics. The current printer supports a wide range of materials, including PLA, ABS, HIPS, Nylon, etc., and can print a variety of objects. However, over time, the printer has had an increase in technical issues and reliability; therefore, the engineering program is no longer using it. The team met with Professor O’Connor on 4/24 to discuss the specific requirements and goals he would like for the project. Overall, the desired goal is to have the 3D printer support the clay, even if a specific shape is not able to be produced. The same day, the team also researched possible clay extrusion kits to buy for the current 3D printer. The team decided on the Ceramic 3D Printer Kit from Eazao and purchased this item that day. Lastly, the team was able to set up the workstation and plug the printer in, hook it up to the computer, and add filament. However, issues arose when the team tried to print a sample piece. On 4/25, our team leader gave our progress report to the class. After the presentations, the group went to work on the printer some more and specifically tried to calibrate the z-axis so that the filament would come out. This solution did not work, so more troubleshooting was needed. On See more
