Benjite, an igenous rock • Composed of coarse purple bumps laying within a gray matrix. (In geology, a matrix is the finer-grained mass of material in which larger grains, crystals, or clasts are embedded.) • Benjite rock formations are commonly found in protruding jagged structures that stand out from the surrounding landscape, often near mountain ranges.
