Congratulations Bea! You are a beautiful and talented young woman who is going to make a difference in this world. I know high school wasnât an easy road for you and most likely you will not be one of those people that says high school was the best time of their life. Honestly, I donât know many people who actually say that. I definitely did not. Many people think freshman year of college is going to be all rainbows and unicorns. I hope that is the case for you. However, in case it isnât here are some tips from my own experience as the student and then the mom who is trying to support the child who is having trouble. If/When the going gets tough donât be afraid to reach out the professors and university resources for assistance. There is so much help out there that people donât even know about. Ok, enough negativity. Letâs move on to some helpful (I hope) tips: 1. Stick it out the first year-even if first semester is rough. 2. If you need to cry, cry in the shower and no one will know. 3. Let mom and dad know how you are really doing. They are going to worry no matter what. 4. Put yourself out there. Try different things until you find what you like and the people you like. 5. Introduce yourself to all of your professors so they can put a name with a face. 6.
