The HECU Marine’s appearance begins with a PASGT helmet worn atop the head, its fabric cover patterned in the U.S. Woodland scheme of dull greens, browns, and muted tans. A black elastic band wraps around the helmet’s circumference, fitted with two rear glow patches designed to reduce friendly fire incidents. Beneath the helmet, a M40 field protective mask is worn, covering the entire face. The mask includes a left-mounted external filter canister, a facepiece of inner silicone rubber and outer butyl rubber layers, and wide, circular green-tinted glass lenses darkened for eye protection. The upper body is covered by a BDU blouse in urban camouflage, composed of varying shades of black, grey, and white. The sleeves are long and fastened at the cuffs, with reinforced stitching at the elbows and shoulders, with an embroidered American flag patch stamped to the right shoulder.
