So, this happened back in 1989. I was driving through the countryside when I found this tiny town called Ash Hollow. At first, it looked normal—kids playing, smoke curling from chimneys—but no one would look at me. Everyone moved stiffly, like they were afraid of something. I went into the general store. Empty. Except for an old ledger on the counter… names… dozens of them… all crossed out. Then an old woman appeared. She whispered, “We burned her… the witch… years ago. Now she’s coming back.” I laughed. I shouldn’t have. By the edge of the fields, I saw her. Floating. Hair tangled with thorns. Eyes black as holes. Shadows writhed around her like smoke. People started screaming—then disappearing. No one ran. No one fought. They just… watched. I ran. I could hear her voice behind me, soft but cutting: “You burned me once… now I burn in return.” I reached the road. The bus was gone. The town vanished behind the fog. I never found Ash Hollow again… but sometimes, late at night, I swear I can still hear her whisper. See more
