I imagine a pickaxe head where either end of the pickaxe (the pointy part) is removed and interchangeable. In other words it is kind of like an axe head, but where the pointy bit gets slotted in, depending on the material type (ruby, diamond, etc.) that the pickaxe is made of. In the holder on the table there should be a few empty pickaxe heads and a few filled with various gem inserts. See more
