While hiking in the Grand Canyon, you observe a distinct, red sandpaper-like rock body about 50 m thick (layer 1) that is overlain by a red fine-grained with interbedded translucent rock bits (layer 2). You follow this boundary in the rock bodies for 1 km until you cross a fault. You walk along the fault and see a boundary between a 50m thick red sandpaper-like rock body (layer 1) and overlying red fine-grained rock interbedded with translucent rock bits (layer 2) of the following by ordering from oldest to youngest.
