Flexible and Distinct Activity Areas Group Instruction Zone (Center): This area is defined by a large, colorful rug and is the central hub for whole-class instruction, morning meetings, and group activities. I chose this placement to ensure all students have a clear view of the teacher and the front of the room. Computer Lab (Front Left Corner): This area provides a dedicated space for digital learning and research. It’s located near the front to allow the teacher to easily monitor computer use while still being able to supervise the rest of the class. Art & Science Station (Back Wall): This long counter area with a sink is designed for hands-on projects. All supplies are stored in clear, labeled bins on shelves below the counter, making them easy for students to access. This placement keeps messy projects contained and away from the main seating area. Independent Work Zone (Back Right Wall): A row of study carrels offers a low-distraction space for students who need to focus on individual assignments. This area gives students a sense of having their own "private office" and teaches them to self-regulate and work independently. Quiet Reading Corner (Front Right Corner): Located away from the main traffic flow, this cozy spot with a comfortable chair and beanbag is for students who need a calm break or a quiet place to read. Student Organization and Workspace Personal Storage: Each student desk has a shelf or tub underneath where they can store their own books and supplies. See more
