DANNY JACKSON AND THE LIGHTENING THIEF This story is about a boy named Danny. He didn’t have a dad, but he lived with his mom, who often told him that his father was someone very special. One day, as Danny was walking to school, he noticed someone following him, but he chose to ignore him and kept walking. When he reached his school, he saw some bigger kids picking on a smaller child. Danny stepped in to try and help, but the bullies turned on him instead. They started hitting him and mocked him, calling him weak. Danny felt really sad and started thinking he was weak. But then a small child came up to him and said thank you for saving him. Danny looked surprised and asked, “What did I do?” The small kid said that Danny had saved him from the big kids. But Danny replied, “I just got beaten up because I’m the weakest kid in school.” The small kid didn’t say anything and just walked away. Danny also went home, skipping school for the day. When he arrived home early, his mom was surprised and asked why he was back so soon. That’s when Danny told her about the fight. His mom told him, “You’re not weak—you’re strong, but you’re also kind. That’s why you don’t hit people back, no matter what.”Danny started to feel a little better after hearing that, but he still couldn’t shake the sadness of feeling weak.
