During August 1974 on a Sunday afternoon we were standing in the Park Office watching a severe electrical storm. As we were watching, a bolt of lightning struck the flat surface of the lake. From the office to where it struck the lake was about three miles. Even at this distance the upheaval of water was visible with the naked eye. It looked like someone had dropped a huge object into the lake, as you would throw a stone. I would guess the water jumped in the air a good 20 to 30 feet. See more
