Orren is a Syndicate Liaison. He acts as a fact finder and independent investigator. His cover story was that he was acting as the manager as the Desperado Club. Orren is a Gondii, a parasitic worm that is a citizen of the Valtay Corporation. As a liaison he is required to be independent of his race, something that Orren takes very seriously. Carl frequently describes Orren as a "vice principal". He often will sit at his desk, his hands steepled in front of him when confronting the crawler. As a species who is an aquatic parasite, Orren's actual body lives in a glass bowl filled with water (or "fishbowl head") on top of a mechanical humanoid body. He has a hood. Carl describes him as "grim reaper-like". Carl first encounters Orren when the Liason is tasked with investigating the death of Loita. Orren constructs an over-elaborate, but mostly accurate, picture of Carl's actions. At the beginning of The Butcher's Masquerade (Book), Carl is immediately pulled into Orren's office at the Desperado Club to talk about the Gate of the Feral Gods. Katia Grim is already there.
