Create a collage with ten images inspired by the short story “this blessed house” within the book “interpreter of maladies” by Jhumpa Lahiri. The short story “this blessed house” follows a main character named Sanjeev who is married to a woman named Twinkle. In the story they find Christian paraphernalia and religious icons all over the house as left behind by the previous owners. Twinkle wants to keep the paraphernalia and decorate the house with it, even though Sanjeev and Twinkle both identify as Hindus. Sanjeev, however, does not want to keep the paraphernalia and decorate the house with it, but instead wants to throw it all away. In the end, the couple ends up compromising and finding a common ground where they can both get a bit of what they want. Some overarching themes of this story are: the power of love and how both members are part of a team, the difference between spontaneity and rigidness in humans and how the presence of both in the relationship can– despite popular belief– benefit both parties, and the idea that people will not always the way in which you think they will (ex. Sanjeev thought his colleagues would find the paraphernalia bizarre but they instead found it interesting and followed twinkle upstairs to help her find more of it). When creating the collage send me the first image with all ten photos you created and however you want them to look together and then send me all ten of the individual photos separately. See more
