A large 340-liter aquarium measuring 48” wide, 24” high, and 18” deep, filled about two-thirds with water. The front half of the tank features a low sand substrate bed with easy-care aquatic plants such as Java moss and Java ferns attached to driftwood and logs. On the left front corner, there is a dark axolotl slate house, and next to it a naturalistic log tunnel with two window-like holes covered with Java moss and Java ferns. From the top back of the tank, a modified filter outlet releases water through a perforated pipe, creating a gentle waterfall effect trickling down large black rocks and lava rocks, partially submerged. The water line sits about two-thirds up the tank height. The exposed portion of the rocks above the water surface is planted with common UK ferns and mosses, growing in custom-made pots crafted from filter floss, soil, rubber bands, and sand as root substrate. Spider wood and driftwood pieces extend half in and half out of the water along the slope where the rocks descend to the tank bottom. At the base near the substrate, natural caves formed by rock and wood structures provide hiding places for axolotls. The aquatic plants in the submerged areas include Amazon sword plants, Hygrophila polysperma, and Anubias petite, all easy-to-care-for species. The overall aquascape blends terrestrial and aquatic elements in a natural, serene style with gentle water movement, textured rock surfaces, and lush greenery suitable for axolotls See more
