A Star of David rendered in red, orange, and yellow stained glass with abstract symbols etched into the pieces, casting colored light.

The memorial will be constructed as a large panel, built from 267 broken pieces of red, orange, and yellow stained glass (to represent the fires), and each piece of glass represents a synagogue burnt down during Kristallnacht. It will be shaped like the star of David. Each piece of glass will also have a QR-code etched onto it which will lead to a video or audio clip of a testimonial of someone with a firsthand-experience of the holocaust/Kristallnacht. Specifically, it will be stained glass so the light can reflect through it, showing hope for a better future shining through, but the colored glass coloring the light allowing us to remember the past will always shape the future/must not be forgotten. This will emphasize the important idea of light passing through broken pieces is also a good way to portray resilience and remembrance See more
